A contactor is an electrical device that is widely used for switching circuits on and off. As such, electrical contactors form a subcategory of electromagnetic switches known as relays. A relay is an electrically operated switching device that uses an electromagnetic coil to open and close a set of contacts.

The benefits of charging stations with AC contactors

1. The contactors control the flow of electricity.They optimize power distribution in the charging infrastructure. This reduces energy waste and the power consumption of charging stations in standby mode, and save about 3 kWh of electricity per day when combined with charging stations without AC contactors.

2. Charging stations will generate a large amount of reactive power consumption when waiting, and if left idle for a long time, it will affect the power quality of the grid (power factor). AC contactors will reduce the generation of reactive power.
